Lt. Col. John Sheppard | Stargate: Atlantis | OTA

One - A Rough Morning -

He doesn't sign.

It shows how weird his life has become that this situation isn't, entirely, out of the ordinary. He hasn't been through this particular situation before, but waking up in strange places, being captured, aliens, alien plagues, he's used to it. He's also pretty sure the snake-person was some kind of alien--one that he's never seen before, and one that he kind of kept staring at for awhile--so in his opinion, this is just another mission gone wrong.

Terribly wrong, from the looks of it, because he has no idea how he got caught up in this, or what planet he's really on.

He sees the numbers, and rolls up his sleeves, and--there it is, on his arm.

John turns to the first person he sees, and like he knows them or something, says, "Can you believe this? You have any idea what planet this is?"

Three - Something's Changing cw: body horror -

Yeah, this is just about typical for his luck. It's not the first time John has been mutated horribly, so when he sees what look like spines sticking out of his arm quite suddenly, the sinking feeling in his stomach is all too familiar.

"That's just great."

But this time, it's much more rapid--in seconds there's more and more spines sticking out of his arms, folding out into what he can only describe as feathers. Greyish, almost blue feathers, bigger than he's ever seen on a bird--and there are more and more of them as the seconds tick by, ripping into his clothes. He can feel the strange sensation--a little painful, but he imagines it should be worse, what with feathers sticking out of him and all--ripple all over, and there's fluff sticking out of his shirt collar, working its way up the sides of his face.

"Even better!" He throws his hands up, which only sends bits of fluff everywhere.

Four - Put to the Test -

Two weeks. Two weeks of being stuck in this place. Nearly two weeks of being stuck in this place as some kind of bird guy, complete with actual functioning wings.

He's not even mad about that, because he can fly, under his own power. That's hella cool.

It is not, hella cool, however, to be looking like one of Jim Henson's muppet creatures from some fantasy 80's movie, which though, probably looks cool from said fantasy movie point of view, but a very terrible thing that he has to deal with in his everyday life. Talons make having boots useless, the all-over feather cover complete with tail made for a lot of altering of clothing, and trying to do anything with giant wings instead of arms is just a lot. Fortunately he was 'lucky' enough to still have existing hands, though they were now talons too, mostly hidden in his wings.

The flying made up for a lot of it, though.

And right now, there was some dumb test contest but also, he would very much like to win some dumb test contest. When it's his turn he shows off a little, using his actual skills as a pilot to do some fancy flying. He dives from the highest point he could fly, and his peregrine-falcon-like wings and tail allow him to reach ridiculous speeds. He flares his wings at the last second, landing on the ground with a plume of dust, and, he gets a sticker.

He walks off, preening a bit. He might notice you looking. "Yeah, that was almost easy, I could have done better, though, the wind wasn't exactly on my side..."

Wildcard - Anything goes!
